Shaw announced today that the company will sponsor the 2008 HGTV Green Home Giveaway. HGTV will be conducting a national sweepstakes that will invite viewers and fans to enter to win the HGTV Green Home. The national sweepstakes kicks off on March 28, 2008 and runs through May 16, 2008. The HGTV Green Home is located near the popular beach resort of Hilton Head, South Carolina. The HGTV Green Home will be located near miles of some of the most popular beaches in the country and an environmentally-conscious golf course.

The home will be fully furnished and designed with eco-friendly products and materials by Interior Designer Linda Woodrum, who has worked on the past 10 HGTV Dream Homes. Online, viewers will be able to take a virtual tour of the home where they will be able to learn about green design and eco friendly products. HGTV Green Home House Planner, Jack Thomasson, is overseeing the construction of the home. Shaw will provide a variety of eco-friendly flooring for the home.

Viewers were invited to vote in an online poll from September 21 through October 12, 2007 and help decide what color to paint the home or to share their thoughts on the HGTV Green Home blog.

HGTV’s sponsor partners, such as Shaw, who are participating in the HGTV Green Home Giveaway will be able to highlight their eco-friendly products for HGTV’s loyal audience. HGTV is distributed to more than 95 million U.S.households and is one of cable’s top-rated networks. Products featured in the HGTV Green Home are apart of the Shaw Green EdgeT. Launched fall 2006, the Shaw Green Edge is an umbrella term that encompasses over one hundred of the company’s environmental initiatives.
