That looks incredible, and so much better than normal wood flooring. My parents are looking to redo the flooring in their home. I had originally suggested laminate, but bamboo flooring looks perfect for them!

This is about the third time I have been told bamboo flooring is NOT the best for flooring, and we were considering it for our downstairs. What is the BEST flooring for heavy traffic areas? My husband doesnt wipe his feet, my mother drags her feet, and our carpeting of one year looks bad. I dont want to put more tile downstairs...

Bamboo floor was originally developed in Zhejiang province, it started in 1990's, some Taiwaness brought in modern machines to produce bamboo floor. Now it is still the leading bamboo floor industry in China. Top 5 provinces of Mao Zhu (Phyllostachys pubescens, which used to produce bamboo floor) resource in China in 2002:
1. Fujian: 879000 ha.
2. Hunan: 671800 ha.
3. Jiangxi: 658700 ha.
4. Zhejiang: 650300 ha.
5. Anhui: 152900 ha.

The provinces which have bamboo resources always have their own "bamboo sea", for exemple Anji county, Zhejiang province has a local which named "big bamboo sea". "bamboo sea" normally is called by local people which are pride of their bamboo forest area, instead a province. It's not correct "Nearly all bamboo flooring sold in North America is produced in the southern Chinese province of Hunan, in an area known as “the bamboo sea”. in fact, bamboo floor in North American comes from Zhejinag, Jiangxi, Hunan, Anhui, Jiangsu, Fujian...

Bamboo used for making bamboo floor is matured in 5 to 6 years. 3 years' bambnoo is too young to be used for bamboo floor.

We bought bamboo flooring and had it installed professionaly. After two years it looks like heck--full of scratches and dents and we have no children at home or pets. If we knew two years ago what we know today we would NOT have purchased bamboo. I tell everyone I know and even strangers I see buying bamboo flooring that they are making a big mistake. Bamboo flooring stinks.
