Maybe this is because when we sold our last house, our bedroom walls had been painted red. I think it looked great, and we managed to sell the house anyway. As far as flooring goes, I really think that a lot of people get hung up on color uniformity. But, there's a ton of visual appeal to be had in something like a slate floor, which is all about muted color ranges and natural variance. This makes your installation the only one of its kind.
