Since reading your article i have studied the Armstrong website and it has led me to investigate a large array of gorgeous floorings that are not available in the UK.

I think this hits on an important idea - people want design elements that hold a sense of history, that tell a story. In this way, they're not just installing a reflection of their taste (also important), but of something that has a life of it own too.

Cheers for the post!

I love the look of this floor. Wish I could see it in person. I will have to keep on the lookout for it. What a great design idea!

These floors are quite unique. However I don't think Armstrong deserves the kudos for creative thinking as much as Rick Merwin from Fontenay Woods (fontenaywood.com). Rick developed the process to make wine barrel flooring from the actual barrels. He has been reclaimed the actual wood from real wine barrels and making it into hardwood flooring for 10 years. Armstrong's reproduction is nice, but if you want something more than a reproduction you should look to Fontenay and Rick Merwin who should get the credit for creating something new and unique.

I created this line 7 years ago and have been distributing it internationally for several. They had this in the booth at Surfaces and claimed to know me personally. One even claimed to have taught me the flooring business. I can live with them knocking-off my product, but taking credit is another thing altogether.
