I JUST BOUGHT A HOUSE AND LOVE WOOD FLOORS. I WANT TO INSTALL WIDE PLANK FLOORING FOR THE RUSTIC LOOK ON MY OWN. ANY ADVICE OF A GOOD FLOOR FOR A BUSY FAMILY WITH 2 YOUNG KIDS AND 2 DOGS. WHAT TYPE OF WOOD DID THEY USE BACK IN THE DAY? I WAS WIDE AND KIND OF KNOTTY. HAVE ANY INSTALL TIPS? DO I HAVE TO FACE NAIL WIDE BOARDS? CAN I FIND A SAW MILL THAT WILL LET ME BUY A BUNDLE OF WOOD TO SELF DISTRESS AND WHAT IS THE BEST WAY TO SELF DISTRESS WOOD?

THANKYOU SO MUCH mATT cHRISTY

As a big fan of Tuftex, I'm happy to see the design team being so fashion forward this year, both in the pattern as well as color palettes.
In the west, recent trends have aligned to be fairly neutral and conservative in pattern and while not deviating from what the customer is wanting, they have defiantly stepped up and created some very luxurious and trendy designs that will still fit with what consumers want. I can't wait to see these patterns in store. I know they’ll be on the top sellers list!

Acclimating new flooring to your home prior to installation is certainly important. However, Mullican Flooring, a hardwood flooring manufacturer headquartered in Johnson City, Tenn., has tackled this issue by developing an installation system and specially milled solid planks that actually resist the effects of any kind of moisture. The flooring has been desgined to expand at the bottom if exposed to moisture, without the floor's surface being affected. Mullican technicians developed the flooring and tested it internally for a year before working another two years with researchers at a leading university’s wood products department. The university research technicians explored changes to the flooring profile to provide Mullican with a realistic understanding of which design patterns were needed to keep the floor stabilized. Mullican's new products are so successful that the company offers a lifetime "moisture warranty" on these planks if they are installed using the company's two-step Aqua Shield system. Called Meridian Pointe, the products are now available at certain dealers across the United States. Mullican is now in the process of applying the new plank structure to some of their other solid products. To find out more about Mullican's lifetime "moisture-warranted" solid hardwood flooring, go to www.mullicanflooring.com and click on Meridan Pointe or solid Castillian under Mullican's products list tab.

Hey, I think you might be on to something here. My color ideas and my wife's are really different. Maybe we can use this idea to come up with a compromise color scheme.
